The County Assembly of Nyeri has approved the eight Chief Officers Nominees forwarded to the County Assembly by Nyeri Governor H.E Mutahi Kahiga in the following departments;
- Lucy Ndumba Kiogora- Governor’s Office
- James Gichuki Kiretai- Education
- Wilson Kiiru Maringa- Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries
- Mercy Wanjiku Ngacha- Economic and Planning
- Benard Kiama Kariuki- Water and Irrigation
- Joel Mwai Gethi- Gender and Social Services
- Adan Edin Ibrahim- Health Services
- Joseph Kanyi King’ori- County Public Service and Administration
While moving the motions for adoption of the reports, the Chairpersons in charge of Finance and Economic Planning Committee Hon. Atanasio Kabaire, Education, Science and Technology Committee Hon. Erastus Karanja , Mukurwe-Ini Central MCA Hon. Cyrus Nderitu (on behalf of the Chairperson Committee on Water and Sanitation Services) ,the Chairperson in charge of Health Services Committee Hon. Njuguna Kawanjiku, Chairperson in charge of Legal Affairs, County Public Service and Administration Hon. Clement Warutere, Hon. Samuel Kariuki on behalf of the Chairperson Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Committee and Hon. Patrick Karanja (on behalf of the Chairperson Gender, Social Services and Special Programme Committee) noted that the eight Nominees appeared before the relevant Committees and were vetted in accordance with the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act, 2017.
Further, the Chairpersons informed the House that the Committees examined the overall suitability based on their academic credentials, professional training, experience and integrity among others.
In supporting the motions, the Hon. Members noted that the Nominees possess the requisite qualifications and professional experience required to serve as Chief Officers. In the two sittings chaired by the Speaker Hon. James Gichuhi and the Deputy Speaker Hon. Samuel Kariuki, the Hon. Members emphasized that the people of Nyeri are expecting timely and quality services adding that the officers must ensure optimal service delivery in the County.
