The County Assembly of Nyeri Committee on Physical Planning, Housing and Urbanization Chaired by Rware Ward MCA Hon. Simon Mbogo today held a consultative meeting with Officers from the Department of Lands led by the Chief Officer Mr. Fredick Macharia together with a section of Petitioners from Ndurutu Village in Gachika Sub- County , Kiganjo location concerning the petition tabled before the County Assembly seeking the intervention of the House over the land dispute between Ndurutu community and the PCEA church.![]()

The Committee has now committed to hold a meeting with all the concerned petitioners and the Church leaders in order to facilitate open communication as well as ensure the resolution process is inclusive.

The County Assembly of Nyeri MCAs have approved a report seeking the Water Services Providers to consider involving all stakeholders during any consultations regarding consumer charges or water supply and consumption related issues in order to avoid public dissatisfaction.![]()

While moving the motion for adoption of the report on Water Tarrifs for Othaya Mukurwe-ini Water and Sanitation Services Company Ltd, Mathira Water and Sanitation Company Ltd, Narumoru Water &Sanitation Company Ltd and Tetu Aberdares Water & Sanitation Company Ltd, Hon. Charity Wachira (Gakawa Ward) noted that various consumers including the Assembly, were not directly involved on the issue of water tarrifs hence the public uproar. Further, the public participation was not satisfactory and that the upward revision of water tariffs was exorbitant![]()

In supporting the motion, the Hon. Members underscored the need to engage diverse stakeholders so as to promote shared decision making. During a sitting chaired by the Speaker Hon. James Gichuhi, the House resolved that the Water Services Providers should always notify water consumers of public participation by way of SMSs. Additionally, public participation should be held at the Ward level and area MCA should be informed. That the Water Services Providers should effectively address the issue of non-revenue water among others.

While moving the motion for adoption of the report on behalf of the Chairperson Health Services Committee, Hon. Janet Kamiru (Gender Representative) noted that the Nominees appeared before the Health Services Committee and were vetted in accordance with the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act No. 5 of 2017. She also noted that the Committee examined the overall suitability of Nominees based on their academic qualifications, Work and Professional experience, integrity, vision and leadership among others.![]()

In supporting the motion, the Hon. Members observed that the Nominees had the requisite qualifications to serve in the aforementioned positions emphasizing the need to serve the people of Nyeri with excellence in order to ensure they enjoy the highest standards of health.
