Legislative Assemblies play an important role in our system of governance because they undertake very crucial functions of oversight, representation and legislation at the County level. The Assemblies are the gatekeepers of public resources who represent the interest of the electorates and as such they ensure the peoples’ will is safeguarded.

Message from the county assembly clerk
The purpose of this website is to act as a link between the Assembly, the electorate and all stakeholders. It details the day to day activities of the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and Staff in ensuring that Nyeri County is well represented, necessary legislations are enacted, and oversight of the Executive is done accordingly. It thus conveys our vision of becoming an effective, efficient and transformative Assembly.

The Committees on Health Services, Gender, Budget and Appropriations held a consultative meeting with the Mental Health Coalition-Nyeri Chapter, together with the Health Rights Advocacy Forum (HERAF) to discuss strategies for addressing the growing mental health challenges in Nyeri County.![]()

The meeting followed a proposal by the mental health advocates, who called on the County Assembly to support interventions aimed at improving access to mental health services.![]()

They also urged the Assembly to consider allocating KShs. 92 Million towards mental health programmes.![]()

Members of the County Assembly lauded the proposal and reaffirmed their commitment to work collaboratively with the relevant departments to strengthen mental health services and address the rising burden of mental health issues in the county among other interventions.
