a) Request for a statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Health Services on why waivers were not granted to the 21 patients detained in Karatina level IV Hospital for failure to settle hospital fees. The action that will be taken to ensure that the patients detained in Karatina Level IV Hospital are discharged as soon as possible and the measures that will be put in place to prevent future detainment of students in County Hospitals due to unsettled hospital bills. ![]()

b) Hon. Watson also sought answers on the status of the recently installed stand-alone lights in Karatina Ward which are not working. He requested for a statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Transport, Public Works and Infrastructure on the name and details of the contractor who carried out the installation works of the seven stand-alone lights. Whether the retainer fee has already been released to the contractor. If not, whether, the County Government will issue the retainer fee notwithstanding the status of the two stand-alone lights. The steps that the Department will take to ensure that the stand-alone lights are up to standard.![]()

Request for a statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Health Services on alleged mishandling of a patient known as Elizabeth Waruguru Kariuki while she was seeking eye treatment at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital. The Hon. Member seeks to know whether the Department is aware of the case involving the patient and the circumstances that led to her referral to Mwai Kibaki Level VI Hospital and whether how the Patient was attended to amounts to professional negligence and what action has been taken

Following a petition by Mukurwe-ini residents proposing a split of Othaya Mukurwe-ini Water Services Company (OMWASCO) into two to form Mukurwe-ini Water Services Company (MUWASCO) and Othaya Water Services Company (OTWASCO), the Committee on Water & Sanitation chaired by Hon. Stephen Kigotho this week held consultations with various stakeholders from the Water Sector. ![]()

The consultations were held with the Water, Irrigation, Environment and Climate Change Department officers led by the CEC Mr. Fredrick Kinyua, the MD OMWASCO Mr. Moses Munyi, Board Members of the Water Company, Tana Water Works Development Representatives Eng. Daniel Ngugi and Ms. Lillian Kamau, and MCAs from the two Sub-counties. ![]()
