Wilfred Wambari urging the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Energy to establish and fund a County Solar Power Programme to install solar power systems in suitable County public facilities, including health facilities, markets and offices. The Legislators noted that the adoption of solar energy presents an opportunity to reduce reccurent expenditure on electricity and enable the County Government to redirect the savings realized towards the provision of essential public services and other development priorities.The motion calls for the County Government to explore the adoption of solar power at the County Industrial Park to promote reliable, affordable and sustainable energy; undertake an assessment of County facilities to identify those suitable for solar adoption, particularly facilities where solar power can reduce electricity costs and enhance energy reliability and use the findings to guide phased implementation of the County Solar Power Programme as well as collaborate with relevant National Government agencies, development partners and investors to secure technical and financial support for the Programme. ...

Stephen Kigotho Yesterday held a consultative meeting with officers from the Department of Water, led by the County Executive Committee Member Fredrick Kinyua. Key on the agenda was the progress of drilling works for the Kahara/Kiamabara borehole project following a request for statement by Konyu Ward MCA Hon. Julius Kamiri. The officers provided an update on the ongoing works, with the Committee urging the Department to fast-track the process to ensure that residents have timely access to the essential commodity.The Members also discussed the progress of works at the Gikondi-Muthuthi-ini Borehole. The Department informed the Committee that the contractor is already on site and has completed the drilling of the borehole. The project is currently awaiting equipping before it can be operationalised for the benefit of residents.Further,the Committee called on the Department to urgently procure and dispatch water pipes to Mathira Water and Sanitation Company Limited ( MAWASCO)noting that during the Financial Year 2025/2026, the County Assembly of Nyeri approved an allocation of KShs. 1 Million under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action( FLLOCA) Programme and Kshs. 2 Million under the Ward Specific Programme to facilitate the purchase and installation of the pipes. ...
