The Auditor General said that the County Assemblies have a symbiotic relationship with the Audit Office whereby they play a critical role in the oversight over the executive whereas the Audit Office acts as an agent in ensuring compliance of legislations passed, proper appropriation of budgets and efficient use of public resources to benefit the people.

The Speaker of the Assembly reiterated that the Assembly will continue supporting the Audit Office whenever called upon and urged the Auditor General to work together with other Offices to look into the issue of financial autonomy of counties as well in bringing out clarity in the distinct oversight roles of the Senate and County Assemblies as per the Constitution.
