Kiruga Thuku has raised concerns over the delay in opening up Kîînu Access Road in chinga Ward.The Legislator noted that during a consultative meeting between the Committee and the County Executive Committee Members responsible for Transport and Finance, it was resolved that the two respective Departments ensure that a sum of KShs. 1 Million is allocated in the 2025/2026 Financial Year budget to facilitate the opening up of the road. Kiruga has now requested a statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Transport, Public Works and Infrastructure seeking an explanation for the delay in implementing the Assembly's resolution. Agnes Wachira( Gender Representative)has raised concerns regarding the safety risks posed by abandoned and non-operational cattle dips across the County, noting that many remain open and unsecured, posing a danger to residents and livestock.The Legislator has requested a statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries on:-Measures the Department has taken to assess, secure, fence or cover dangerous abandoned cattle dips, including implementation timelines.Plans to refurbish and repurpose former cattle dip sites into economically beneficial community projects.The possibility of partnering with schools, communities and development partners to convert suitable sites into school gardens that support school feeding programmes and practical learning under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).The Department's plans to engage local communities through public participation to identify suitable alternative uses for the sites and the timelines for implementation. ... Lucy Wanyitu today held a consultative meeting with officers from the the Department of Gender and Social Services led by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Esther Ndungu and a section of Petitioners on a petition addressing rising cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Nyeri County.The petition calls for enhanced budgetary support in the 2026/2027 Financial Year to strengthen GBV prevention and response.Key proposals include establishment of a GBV Rescue Centre, publication of quarterly GBV reports and development of an integrated GBV data system to improve coordination, reporting and survivor support.
