𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐒 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 The Committee on Finance and Economic Planning chaired by Mukurwe-ini West Ward MCA Hon. Atanasio Kabaire this afternoon engaged the Department of Finance and Economic Planning to consider financial statements for the year ended 30th June, 2023. The Officers led by the Chief Officer in charge of Finance and Accounting Mr. John Ngugi appeared before the Committee to shed light on the following reports:- 1. Annual Report and Financial Statements for County Government of Nyeri for the year ended 30th June, 2023 2. Annual Financial Statements for Receiver of Revenue for the Year ended 30th June, 2023 3. Annual Financial Statements for County Revenue Fund for the year ended 30th June, 2023.

The Auditor General CPA Nancy Gathungu paid a courtesy call to the Speaker of the County Assembly Hon. James Gichuhi accompanied by her Deputy Mr. Isaack Kamau and the Central Regional Director Mr. David Cherono among other officers. She also met the Clerk of the Assembly Mr. Jenard Mwiggeh.   The Auditor General said that the County Assemblies have a symbiotic relationship with the Audit Office whereby they play a critical role in the oversight over the executive whereas the Audit Office acts as an agent in ensuring compliance of legislations passed, proper appropriation of budgets and efficient use of public resources to benefit the people.   The Speaker of the Assembly reiterated that the Assembly will continue supporting the Audit Office whenever called upon and urged the Auditor General to work together with other Offices to look into the issue of financial autonomy of counties as well in bringing out clarity in the distinct oversight roles of the Senate and County Assemblies as per the Constitution.      

The County Assembly of Nyeri has approved the calendar of the Assembly (Sittings and Recess ) for the second session of the Third Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 26(1).
